Pop Photo Mag App Reviews

Its fine.

A few minor issues, but I like it better than print.

Nice Try but needs reworking and enhancements

This is a review of the online app only. I applaud PP for trying a unique approach to the UI specific to enjoying the presentation of photos, and it is an enhancement to the print version unquestionably. However, the navigation often has me flipping to the next article inadvertently or double tapping when I should single tap. After reading 6 issues I still dont have a handle on it. It simply isnt intuitive nor particularly consistent with other major apps UIs. Lastly, were talking photography here, yet there is no functionality to allow for viewing of photos in the native (full) resolutions or doing comparisons of before/afters which are both naturals for digital presentation. Dont give me excuses about copyright or technical issues (like download size), these can handled as optional or on demand enhancements that would triple the enjoyment factor for me. And yes, I would pay more for the privilege, and it would further distinguish PP from the competition. Ill be looking for these enhancements in the next major version!

Really good

I love everything about this app. A great ipad magazine alternative for the real thing. Highly recommended!

Great magazine made better

I receive the paper version of this magazine monthly and decided to try the iPad version to see if there was much of a difference. To my surprise the multiple capabilities of a digital magazine are amazing! Animated ads, full screen photos, love the side bar scrolling text and image to coincide. Its like all forms of media art merged into one package. I give this 4 stars because I would like to see the text take advantage of my retina display, but Im sure this will come in the future. Thanks Popular Photography for going this route in press and giving us an experience that really embodies the creative future.

Pop photo

It took just a little while to get used to the iPad version of Popphoto, but I like it much more than the electronic version for PC. Like every new medium, there is a bit of a learning curve, but well worth the effort. Marty C, Chateauguay.

Generally an excellent app

For the most part the application works very well. I like the ability to tap into multi media elements. . Sometimes it can seem a bit sluggish, its crashed a couple of times. The lag time between when the issue hits the street and when it hits the app is too long,, I wish they were both released at the same time. Overall though it is a pleasant experience.

Pop photography rating

5 star. My favorite photo mag,I have been a subscriber of and on for years.

great mag made even better

love the interface...other mags could learn from this one

Not sure about this updated version, yet

I had quite a few previews on my iPad, that I had downloaded with the older version. They disappeared when I completed the update, and I had to re-download a purchased e-zine. I didnt have to buy it again but it was time consuming, and the past previews remain lost, even after clicking the "missing issues" icon. Its too bad. I did end up buying an annual subscription and am enjoying the current issue; I didnt want all the footprint left with the printed issues. Like many of you wrote, it takes some getting used to to navigate the pages, but I do like the articles, and the excellent graphics. So, for now, I can only give it 3 stars. May change my mind to a 4 or 5 star rating after the next update. March 18 2012 - so Im adding a star today, I finally was able to get all my issues. I realize its a space thing to have to download the versions every time, but they take a while. I like the layout its slick but sometimes a little complicated ie do I go down or left to right, etc but overall I like not having the bulk of magazines taking up space and oxygen to compost. I really like the pop photo notifications. Thanks!

Great Content and Presentation, penalized for not killing trees with a long wait after print arrival

Great content and slick presentation that makes good use of the iPads screen and features; far more than just a print replica. However, Id like to see PopPhoto reach the standard set by mags like Wired and NatGeo with similarly high quality of content and multimedia presentation that is released at the same time the print versions hit the stands. Were not paying for dead trees, were paying for intellectual property. Let go the dinosaur costs of print distribution and stop penalizing the smarter environmental and economic choices of your most important customers - the ones who are consuming on the medium that will still be around in the very near future. Just move up the deadlines and then hold back the print timing so that the digital is ready when the pulp ships. If that is already the process, then stop favoring the print channel; it may satisfy your advertisers, but theyll be gone if you dont have any readers.

Excellent for me, a new photo amateur

I have my reflex for 1 year and I found good advice in this magazine . Good job

Good value, especially for an annual subscription

Solid magazine, lots of interesting articles, and $15 for a year isnt bad at all!

Amazing photo magazine!

Its the best!

Joke ?

It seams too, this magazine is nothing more than squeeze for money from advertisers and publisher people a like ... Amateur stuff magazine which brings out nothing new or in a way it can trigger attention. I am disappointed ! No way I will renew !

App keeps crashing

Love the magazine, hate this app. Keeps crashing upon launch. Ive re-installed the app, soft rebooted the iPad, read the FAQ section, buy still cannot find a solution. Shame, because I was ready to throw my money at them for an annual subscription.

Good application

Nice

Crashes or takes too much time to load up

Crashes or takes too much time to load up. Magazine is great!

Download time too long

This App is great if you can wait till Christmas every year, for the next magazine to finish downloading. Painfully slow, and deleting the App and reloading wont help. I havent even bothered to download November issue after waiting 20 minutes to load...and still not finished!!

Was great when it worked

The app stopped working. Can get anything to load and I am on a one year subscription. There is not customer service to help either.

Scam

Auto renewal my subscription even though I havent use it for a year.
